Privacy Policy

GuardRail requires no account, contains no ads or third-party analytics, and does not send Screen Time data to the developer's servers.

Information processed on device

GuardRail stores the app identifiers you select, its enabled state, appearance preference, usage rules, daily confirmation counts for each protected app, and current temporary access state on your device.

Device orientation data

While the home-screen orbs are active, GuardRail reads device orientation in real time so the orbs can move with your phone. Orientation data is used only on your device for the current animation. It is not stored, uploaded, or shared with third parties, and processing stops when you leave the home screen or the app enters the background.

Data collection and transfer

This information is not sent to the developer's servers and is not used for tracking, advertising, sale, or third-party marketing. Settings and state are shared only between the main app and its Screen Time extensions through an App Group.

What GuardRail cannot see

Apple's Family Controls framework provides only restricted identifiers required for system management. GuardRail cannot read chats, photos, typed content, browsing activity, account information, or other data inside protected apps.

Screen Time access

GuardRail works only after you grant Screen Time access. You can pause GuardRail, change protected apps, or revoke access in iOS Settings at any time.

Payments

GuardRail is free to download, and all core Screen Time features work without a purchase or subscription. It offers three repeatable consumable purchases for voluntary support. They unlock no feature and do not affect normal use. The App Store handles payment; GuardRail does not receive your payment card details.

Storage and deletion

This version has no account or personal data stored in the cloud. Clearing selected apps, pausing GuardRail, or uninstalling the app stops local processing; uninstalling removes data stored by the app.

Security and policy changes

GuardRail relies on the iOS sandbox, App Groups, and Apple's permission system. If accounts, cloud sync, analytics, or another feature changes how data is handled, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated before release.
